Champions were awarded saddles and belt buckles a little more than 1 month ago at the High School National Finals Rodeo, and it's already time to saddle up on the new season.

The fall portion of the Wyoming High School Rodeo season, begins on Saturday, August 31st through Monday, September 2nd in Wheatland.

There are only 3 rodeos in the fall, but it accounts for 25% of the season.

Competitors earn points based on what place they finish in, at the end of each rodeo day.

Points carry over the winter-break and into the spring season, which starts in April.

The top 4 in each event at the end of the season in June, will qualify for the 2014 High School National Finals Rodeo, to be held in Rock Springs, from July 13-19.

After Wheatland, competitors will ride in Lander and then in Jackson to conclude the fall season.
