Recently, Casper College won the right to host the Region 9 women's basketball tournament, which will be held from March 4th through the 9th. This brings up a conflict with the 2A/1A state basketball tournament (March 3rd through the 5th).

Swede Erickson T-Bird Gym is where a number of state tournament games are played at. The WHSAA has already created a back-up plan. Any 2A/1A team, that ends up playing in the 3rd place, or consolation championship game (Saturday, March 5th), that was originally scheduled to be played at Casper College, will instead play the game at the Kelly Walsh High School Gymnasium.

As for Friday, March 4th...the Region 9 Tournament has to play 1 play-in game, since there are 17 teams in the tournament. Hence the decision was made, in order to make Casper College available, that the 2 1A consolation round boys games (scheduled for noon and 1:30pm), will be played at Kelly Walsh HS. The girls consolation round games on March 4th, will be played at CC, with their regular start times of 9 and 10:30am. The semi-final games later that day will not be affected,

The 2A/1A basketball state championship games will not be affected by this, since those games will be played at the Casper Events Center. The Region 9 women's basketball tournament is scheduled to be completed, the day before the 4A/3A state basketball tournament begins.
