Kasey Esponda and Aaron Tyser scored 10 points each in leading Buffalo past a cold-shooting Wheatland 44-31 for the state Class 3A boys championship Saturday.

Buffalo led the entire game, gaining a 12-7 lead in the first period and going up 21-14 at the half.

The 7-point halftime difference would be the closest Wheatland would be able to come the remainder of the game as its long-range shooting failed to hit the mark.

Ryan Madsen led Wheatland with 14 points.

The state championship is Buffalo's second in the last three years, and third in the last six. They placed second last year.

The Bison close out the season with a record of 25-5.
