The junior QB scored all the points for the Thunderbirds, while a blocked PAT in the first quarter, came back to haunt the Broncs.

If the weather is good enough to jump around and dance...it's also good enough to toss the pigskin around.

East at Sheridan in the 4A semi-finals...first quarter...East wearing the white...Tevis Bartlett will cap off a 12 play 89 yard drive, with an easy 2 yard sneak into the end zone...to get his team on the board first up 7-nothing.

Sheridan did not take long to answer back...Colbey Bruney find a hole in the front line...slips 3 tackles...and he has room to run and he got some help...great blocking by Trae Kaufmann...54 yards and a score...but the PAT was blocked and that would come back to haunt later...home team trails 7-to-6.

The Thunderbirds would counter...or rather...Bartlett would...right up the gut...good luck trying to bring him down...he is a 2-time national champion wrestler...55 yards and they are not going to get him...this was a much different game than 1 month ago...now it's 14-to-6.

How about some defense...we have not seen any so far...check out the hit by Isaac Taylor on Joe Shassetz...the latter was wide open and never had a chance on that play. That was just good open field tackling.

However...the Broncs kept the drive going...Kameron Eckard to Bruney and this would be a 32 yard pick up down to the 6...Bruney had more than 120 all-purpose yards in this game, which means the junior did his job.

On the next play...the boys in blue were trying to finish the drive...Eckard was looking one way...then scrambles the other...he'll find a very wide open Riley Sessions in the end zone for a 6-yard score...again conversion no good and that was a problem...Sheridan trailed 14-to-12 after the first 12 minutes.

Second quarter...East back on the attack...and Bartlett would take off again...he found the hole...ran through it...had to shake one tackler, and once he did, he was off to the races...39 yards...the third rushing touchdown for the junior...he has his team in pretty good shape, with a 21-to-12 advantage.

On the other end...Sheridan had a great opportunity...and botched it. They got down to the 1...a procedure call backed them up...they went for it on 4th and goal at the 6 and came up empty...but they caught a break...as the visitors countered with a really bad punt, so the home team got another chance inside enemy territory.

On that next possession...they would cash in...Sessions...1 yard and not much trouble...PAT good...home team down 21-19.

They would get the ball back just before halftime...and give it another shot...Eckard thinks he has somebody...but he did not see somebody else...Kody Owens with an interception to stop the momentum...as the Thunderbirds would maintain their 21-19 lead, going into halftime.

3rd quarter...the Broncs used big yardage plays when these 2 teams hooked up last month...and here comes a reminder...Shassetz goes around the right side...got some great blocking up front...turned on the jets late and outran 2 defenders to the promised land...75 yards...the boys in blue have taken the lead 27-21, and just had to survive 12 more minutes, in order to punch their ticket to Laramie.

4th quarter...the only one doing the punching though was Bartlett...1 yard and touchdown number 4...East has gone back on top 28-27, and there was still time on the clock.

Later...Sheridan needed a break and the opposition gave it to them...Judson White will end up recovering the fumble at around mid-field with about 5 minutes to go...now his team-mates need to go the other way and score.

They gave it a try...Eckard was looking for the big play and he wanted Kaufmann...and it almost worked...that was critical...as the home team would punt the ball away with 3 1/2 minutes remaining.

From there...the visitors would milk the clock...and got the first downs that they needed to maintain possession...this was a 26 yard pickup for Bartlett...as East would hang on and advance to the 4A state championship game...winning 28-27.
