After enduring tough tests from #2 ranked foes last week (except Buffalo girls)...all 4 #1 teams have a unanimous hold on their position.

Laramie is tops in 4A boys, and will have to be careful about Friday's visit to Kelly Walsh, which has been a jeckyl and hyde type team, so far. The Trojans have won a couple that they probably should've lost, and lost a few that they probably should've won. Riverton moves up to #2, and will begin the 2nd half of conference play, on the road against Evanston and Star Valley. #5 Natrona has the same schedule, in reverse order. Sheridan slips to #3 and will have to fight for that spot, when #4 East visits on Thursday. On Friday, the Broncs host Central, while the Thunderbirds will play at Gillette.

On the 3A side, #1 Buffalo showed #2 Lander who was boss, this past Saturday. The Bison are home vs. Newcastle this Friday and then visit Torrington on Saturday. Lander has the week off to lick their wounds. #3 Jackson and #4 Cody will meet on Saturday in Park County, to decide who should be higher ranked between the 2. On Friday, Jackson is at Powell, while Cody will entertain Pinedale. Like Lander, #5 Worland also has the week off.

UPDATE: The National Soccer Coaches Association (NSCAA) has released its latest rankings. No Wyoming teams are ranked nationally, but 3 Wyoming teams are ranked regionally. In Region 3 (Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Utah), Riverton is ranked #5, Buffalo is ranked #8 and Laramie is at #10.

Turning to the girls 4A poll...all of the attention will be focused in Cheyenne this weekend, as 4 of the top 5 teams will clash in the capital city. It starts Thursday with #1 Gillette at #4 Central. Then on the following day, #2 Sheridan and #5 East will join the frey. Friday's schedule has the Lady Camels facing off against the Lady Thunderbirds, while the Lady Broncs visit the Lady Indians. On Saturday, Sheridan will play at East. However, the party does not end after those 4 games. On Monday, Gillette visits #1 3A Buffalo in a make-up game, and then Tuesday, the lady Camels conclude a 4-game in 6-day stretch, when they host #2 Sheridan. Not to be left out of the competition this weekend, #3 Laramie hosts Kelly Walsh on Friday.

UPDATE: Gillette is ranked #8 in Region 6 of the latest National Soccer Coaches Association Poll. Region 6 consists of teams from Wyoming, Colorado, Idaho, California, and Alaska.

Buffalo is still the queen of the mountain for the 3A girls. The Lady Bison visit Newcastle on Friday, host Torrington on Saturday, and then will host a battle of #1 vs. #1, when 4A Gillette visits Johnson County, in a make-up game. Jackson holds at #2, and like the boys, haven't played a game in more than 2 weeks. We'll see if there's any rust on Saturday, when they visit #3 Cody. Friday's schedule has Jackson at Powell, while Cody is home vs. Pinedale. #4 Lander and #5 Worland have the week off.
