Aside from the state tournament, this upcoming weekend, could be one of the biggest, if not the biggest weekend of the season. 3 games will take place, featuring a #2 visiting a #1.

Despite going 1-1-1 last week, Laramie retains the #1 ranking in the boys 4A poll. The Plainsmen are preparing for a stern test on Friday, when #2 Sheridan comes to visit, in a re-match of last year's state championship game. The Broncs are already battle tested, having tied 3A #1 Buffalo, on the road, back on Tuesday. Although Laramie did not get as many 1st place votes compared to Sheridan, they made up for it, with a large majority of 2nd place votes. Riverton has gotten the attention of the voters, as the Wolverines are now #3. Natrona holds at #4 after upsetting Laramie last week, but fell in Fremont County. Both Riverton and NC visit Green River and Rock Springs this weekend. East now has the #5 spot to themselves, and have the weekend off, due to spring break. Former #2 Central, and former #5 Kelly Walsh, dropped out of the top 5.

On the boys 3A side, #2 Lander has the hardest schedule of them all...hosting #3 Cody on Thursday, and then visit #1 Buffalo on Saturday. The Tigers are unbeaten, with 2 ties so far, and that record will be put to the test. Buffalo just tied #2 4A Sheridan back on Tuesday, and will visit Douglas, the day before they battle Lander. #4 Jackson was off last week, and the Broncs are off again this week as well. #5 Worland will spend the weekend touring the east side of the state, visiting Newcastle and Douglas.

The girls 4A poll is unchanged this week, but the other #2 at #1 game is scheduled for this Saturday...however both teams have Friday business to deal with first. #2 Laramie and #1 Gillette have a Saturday showdown scheduled in Campbell County, which is also a re-match of the last 2 state title games,  but before that can happen, the Lady Camels visit Kelly Walsh on Friday, while the 2-time defending state champ Lady Plainsmen visit #4 Sheridan...a team that just shut out 3A #1 Buffalo, back on Tuesday. Sheridan will host Kelly Walsh on Saturday. Central and East hold steady at #3 and #5, and do not play this weekend.

The girls 3A poll is also unchanged for this week. Buffalo is #1, but just picked up their first loss earlier in the week, thanks to #4 4A Sheridan. The Lady Bison host Douglas on Friday, and #4 Lander on Saturday. Like the boys...#2 Jackson was off last week, and the Lady Broncs are off again this week. #3 Cody and #4 Lander will square off against each other in Fremont County on Thursday, while #5 Worland will host Newcastle and Douglas.
