Boys Basketball 4A/3A Regional Tournament Results 2016

This is the time of the season, where teams with not-so-great records get a second chance, while teams with good records need to make sure they don't overlook anyone.

4A East at Cheyenne Central (at Storey Gym):

Checking record vs. highest team in the conference not involved in the tie, Central gets #1 seed vs. Gillette, because the Camels have a loss vs. Cheyenne East, and the Indians do not.

#1 Cheyenne Central and #2 Gillette each receive a first round bye, and have automatically qualified for the state tournament.

Sheridan, Cheyenne South and Cheyenne East finished in a 3-way tie for the #3, #4 and #5 seeds. Checking head-to-head records vs. the other teams in the 3-way tie, Sheridan gets the #3 seed, because they went a combined 3-1, vs. South and East. Cheyenne South had the next best record at 2-2 and gets the #4 seed, while East went 1-3, and gets the #5 seed.

Thursday, March 3:

#4 Cheyenne South 48 #5 Cheyenne East 47 OT - East Eliminated. South qualifies for the state tournament.

#6 Laramie 52 #3 Sheridan 50 - Sheridan Eliminated. Laramie qualifies for the state tournament.

Friday, March 4:

Saturday, March 5:

Cheyenne South 49 Laramie 39 - 3rd Place

Gillette 66 Cheyenne Central 61 - 1st Place

4A West at Natrona:

#1 Rock Springs and #2 Kelly Walsh get a first round bye and have automatically qualified for the state tournament.

Evanston wins 3-way tie vs. Riverton and Natrona for the #3 seed, because the Red Devils swept the head-to-head games vs. both the Wolverines and the Mustangs.

Checking record vs. highest team in the conference not involved in the tie, Riverton gets the #4 seed over Natrona, because the Wolverines have a win vs. Rock Springs, whereas the Mustangs don’t.

Thursday, March 3:

#4 Riverton 58 #5 Natrona 52 - Natrona Eliminated. Riverton qualifies for the state tournament.

#3 Evanston 66 #6 Green River 38 - Green River Eliminated. Evanston qualifies for the state tournament.
