3A State Qualifying Games at Worland: (Winners qualify for the state tournament, while the losers are done for the season)

In the 3A Southeast, Torrington and Lander both played Riverton at the Pinnacle Cup Tournament at Worland. Lander won, Torrington lost, but we assume the common opponent tie-breaker does not work, because the tied teams either have to play the common opponent at home, or both visit the common opponent and neither scenario happened There’s no rule about facing a common opponent at the same neutral site.

Checking which team gave up the fewest total goals vs. all quadrant opponents, Lander and Torrington each gave up 2 goals total, so this tie-breaker does not work.

The final tie-breaker is a coin flip, which Lander won.

The 3A Northwest does not acknowledge the 1 point that a team gets, for losing in overtime vs. a conference opponent.

Checking record vs. highest team in the Southwest, Cody gets the #1 NW seed over Worland, because the Broncs have a tie vs. Riverton, whereas the Warriors don’t have a tie or a win vs. the Wolverines.

The first place teams in each quadrant (Buffalo, Lander, Cody and Riverton) have already qualified for the state tournament, and don't play this weekend.

Friday, May 12:

(#2 NE) Douglas 5 (#3 NW) Powell 2 - Winner plays Lander at State Tournament.

(#2 SE) Torrington 3 (#3 SW) Pinedale 0 - Winner plays Buffalo at State Tournament.

Saturday, May 13:

(#2 SW) Star Valley 3 (#3 SE) Rawlins 0 - Winner plays Cody at State Tournament.

(#2 NW) Worland 4 (#3 NE) Newcastle 3 Shootout: 4-3 - Winner plays Riverton at State Tournament.
