New 4A Football Poll

by John Gabrielsen on Aug 31, 2010 6:00 PM
Since all the 4A teams played last weekend, we did a new 4A poll only for this week. The other polls remain unchanged, since not every team played.

It is closer at the top, but Natrona still hangs on to the #1 spot, by 3 points over Sheridan. NC collected 12 first place votes, to 5 for the Broncs, but Sheridan closed the gap with a large majority of 2nd place votes, thanks mostly in part to a shut-out win at Kelly Walsh. The defending state champs have an early season test, this Friday at home vs. #3 Cheyenne East. The Thunderbirds were up 26-7 at home vs. Green River, and held on to win 33-30. Evanston surprised many on opening weekend, by laying a beat-down on the then #4 Camels at Gillette. The Red Devils are now the new #4, and missed #3 by 1 point. Evanston has to be getting pumped up for a visit from the #1 Mustangs this weekend. You might recall, the Red Devils only win last year, was against NC at Casper. The last undefeated team, Rock Springs, replaces Cheyenne Central at the #5 position, but the Indians have a chance to claim that spot back, when the Tigers visit Cheyenne, this Friday.

8 teams in Class 1A now have a hole in their schedule.
