Highlights of the Saturday, August 3rd, legion baseball AA state tournament game, between Cheyenne Post 6 and the Casper Oilers.

Scroll down to watch highlights of the game.

After losing the day before, Post 6 would come out of the gate swinging in the first inning, hang a 7-spot on the scoreboard, then hang on to force the if necessary game at the 2013 Legion Baseball AA State Tournament.

If it was not for guys like them...we would not have baseball! Remember...next time...thank a veteran when you see one.

Cheyenne Post 6 vs. the Casper Oilers in the AA State Tournament...top of the first...Isaac Taylor puts the ball in play for Cheyenne...and that should have been fielded...Isaac Block scores off of the error to make the score 1-nothing.

They were just getting started...the first batter of the inning was retired and then Post 6 could do no wrong after that...Dustin Parker will sky one the opposite way to the right center field wall...that would net him a triple and 2 R-B-I's...in the forms of Brian Lopez and Taylor...Cheyenne was the visiting team on their own field in this game, which they now lead 3-zip.

Here comes more...Logan Followell will find the gap in left center field and get extra bases out of it...that double would be the green light for Parker and Greg Ashley to head home, touch the plate and add to the score...which has now inflated to 5-to-nothing...and Casper has yet to bat.

Still in the top of the 1st inning...Lincoln Trujillo batting...oh boy...we never actually saw the ball...but judging by the left fielders body language...and by the field umpire...that one is out of here! A 2-run bomb...and after committing 7 errors in the game, the night before this...Post 6 has responded with 7 runs in their first at bat...and we're not done.

Top of the 2nd...Parker...trying to go deep himself...it might...it could...it...almost left the park. This play ended up being a double. Taylor is going to work his way around the bags and eventually score...that's not him...there he is...and the 4-time defending state champs now have an 8-nothing advantage.

Bottom of the second...Brady Cates pitching for Cheyenne...and his curve ball has some curve. He got off a good start, although he had a little trouble later on down the road, but at least he had run support.

Bottom of the third...the Oilers finally got a little something going...Zack Mathson was looking for some room in the outfield to put the ball towards...and he found it...although that hit turned into a really long single, but it got the job done as Brett Kautzmann will work his way in around from 2nd...to get his team on the board, trailing 8-to-1.

Next batter...Spencer Dexter will squeeze a base hit just out of the diving reach of the defense for a single...Cam Huber has a clear path to go home which he will after rounding 3rd...Casper was slowly...and I mean slowly trying to get back into this game...now down 8-to-2.

Bottom of the 4th...Kyle Chuman offering himself as a sacrifice... this should be a routine out...but he's safe at first...luckily we have slow motion, so let's check it out again.

Watch the left foot of the first baseman...we're guessing that with the umpire right there to see...the first baseman's left foot, did not make contact with the base...when caught the ball. Casper caught a break.

...and they would eventually cash in on it...Huber will get a single into right field with 2 runners in scoring position...naturally they will score as Kody Luckow and Chuman will touch the plate for the Oilers...now they're down 8-to-4.

Top of the 5th...Cheyenne would load the bases, but the opposition was somewhat ready for them...out at home...but safe at first...no controversy on this one, because the error happened before the collision...and we checked it. The first baseman never had the ball...so there's no interference. Meanwhile Cameron Johnson scores and it's now a 9-to-4 game.

Now this play was a little bit of a doozy...the third baseman bobbled the ball...Kautzmann comes up with it and he'll fire across to Mathson in time to get the out at first...that was the only choice they had, and Casper almost botched it...but Block will score an insurance run for Post 6, and now the scoreboard reads, 10-4 good buddy.

You would think a 6-run lead would be safe, but Cheyenne took no chances...Trujillo sends one up the middle for a base hit...Lopez is kicking it into over-drive and check out the slide at the plate...it was not really that close, but still fun to watch. Now his team leads 11-to-4.

Bottom of the 5th...the Oilers have the bases juiced...and Kautzmann is going to squeeze everything he can out of this one...that's a fair ball down the left field line...Kautzmann ended up at second...Delane Doyle...Luckow and Chuman all go home...and we have ourselves a game with an 11-to-7 score.

...and we're still going...thanks to some help from the opposition...Huber should be out on this play, but the throw to first is off the mark, and there's another error...Kautzmann has a free pass in, to make this an 11-to-8 contest.

Top of the 6th...here's another one of those moments...Lopez puts the ball in play...great grab by Kautzmann at short...good throw to first, but watch what happened...Mathson missed the tag...all hands are safe...Johnson scores for Post 6, who has now upped their lead to 12-to-8.

Here it is again...the throw was just a bit high..and Mathson had to spin around in order to make the play...but Lopez would slide and just barely got under the tag...no error against the Oilers...just smart base running by Cheyenne.

Top of the 7th...after that disastrous first inning...Casper pitching was actually doing pretty good...Dexter had a few good moments here and there in relief and he was able to slow down the bleeding.

Bottom of the 7th...the opposition was doing the same thing...Tyler Lambert had himself quite the tournament...you'll know what I mean some other time.

Top of the 8th...watch quickly...Dexter took a mini-step towards third with his right leg and that's a no-no...balk call...Dixon Maggard is instructed to go home and he's not arguing...his team will take runs anyway they can...Post 6 now ahead, 13-to-8.

Bottom of the 8th...the Oilers need some runs soon, because they are low on outs to spare...John Fanto is going to find a lot of room in left center field...he'll get a 2-bagger out of it...Dan Reese is taking a chance and he'll try to score from second...and make it in standing...that helped some, but his team is still down 13-to-9.

Later...Tanner Fischer will get in on the act...this ended up being a ground out to second, but he did his part...and brought Fanto in for 1 more run...now the score is 13-to-10.

Top of the 9th...mistakes at this point can be costly...this fly ball to left has out number 3 written all over it...but that was easier said than done...huge error...Ashley scores...as soon as we can find him...Cheyenne is ahead, 14-to-10.

Bottom of the 9th...last chance for Casper...all they had to do was win this game to become champs...but it was not to be on this night...Post 6 hangs on to win 14-to-10 to force the if necessary game for the tournament championship.
