East Girls Defeat Evanston, Advance to 2nd Round

The Cheyenne East Lady Thunderbirds led practically start to finish in a 52-34 win over Evanston in the quarterfinal round of the 4A State Tournament at Casper College on Thursday night.

East outscored Evanston 18-3 in the 3rd quarter after leading by 11 at halftime.

Sierra Stellern led the T-Birds with 13 points with Jadyn Kanzler adding 9.

Evanston did not have a player in double figures for the contest and were led by Hailey Barker with 9.

East is 19-4 and will play Laramie in the 4A semi-finals at 6pm on Friday at the Events Center.

Evanston falls to 12-14 and will meet Rock Springs in the consolation round on Friday at 10:30am.
