After a few frustrating moments with the goal-posts, the Lady Thunderbirds eventually got a number of shots into the net, in their win against the Lady Indians.

Who needs to sit on the bleachers? The guard rail is a lot more comfortable, and there's more room to stretch out.

Cheyenne Central at #2 Cheyenne East...first half...East wearing the white...here comes a corner kick and things got a little too close for comfort as the ball would get redirected into the goal-post, before Abby Fearneyhough was able to pounce on it and put an end to that scoring threat.

Actually the far goal-post could have been considered the 12th man for Central...here comes Morgan Burke on a breakaway for the Lady Thunderbirds...Fearneyhough was guarding the near side and Burke had the right idea with her approach...but goal-posts are usually a goalie's best friend...it's not often that a striker will get the bounce to go their way.

The home team kept pressing on with their attack...Rachel Erickson will try the near side this time...and Fearneyhough is just a freshman...she knew how to use the goal posts to her advantage...that was both skill and some luck, but many could sense that sooner or later...the latter was going to run out.

The defending state champs would get awarded a penalty kick...Erickson and the goal-posts had an issue in her last game...this time she would get the bounce and the ball is in for a goal...that would relieve some frustration, and the score is 1-to-nothing.

About 2 minutes later...last year's Gatorade Player of the Year would strike again...she would put her foot down and take the high road...she is climbing up the individual leader board for goals scored...now her team is ahead 2-zip.

The visitors did not have as many chances to score, but they did have some good ones...Madi Barber from roughly 30 yards...great save by Shayne Carter as she would knock the ball up into the cross bar...although the ball then hit her in the back and it almost went in...she did what she could under those circumstances...and she got the save...that is what matters.

Seconds before the break...Barber with another chance...this shot goes around 2 defenders and then Carter misjudged the bounce...a grass field can do that sometimes...last year's state runner-ups caught a break...and they were only down 2-to-1, going into half-time.

Second half...East was not about ready to let their rivals get any closer...Makenzie Drake is going to squeeze a shot in between the goalie and the cross bar...the senior will hit paydirt and there's hugs all around...that would open up some breathing room, and push the advantage up to 3-to-1.

They were not done...we got a loose ball off of the corner kick...Ashton Horsley is going to rush in and knock in the rebound, to provide a little more insurance...and make sure the traveling trophy would go home in the hands of her team...East takes top honors in the capital city...winning 4-to-1.
