As expected,  there is a new #1 in this week’s coaches and media boys basketball poll.

Gillette’s triple overtime loss at home to Laramie has knocked the Camels all the way back to fifth this week in the 4A poll, clearing the way for Evanston to take the #1 spot this week.  Sheridan is now 2nd while Riverton moves up to third. East is fourth and has a tough weekend hosting Gillette and Sheridan on consecutive days.  Sheridan would take three #1 votes, Riverton and Gillette each got one.

3A has Powell #1 with 20 of the 23 top votes. Star Valley is second with Torrington now third and Lander fourth. Wheatland is fifth. One of the big games has Powell on the road to Lander on Friday. Then Torrington meets Wheatland on Saturday at the Dawghouse. Star Valley, Lander, and Wheatland each got single votes for #1 this week. Five other teams took votes in 3A this week.

Lovell remains the top team in the 2A boys standings with 19 of the 23 top votes. Wind River got the other four and are second, Wyoming Indian moves back to third as voters drop Burns to fourth after suffering their first loss, albeit to 4A Cheyenne South.  Greybull stays in the top five even after being upset on their home floor by Rocky Mountain.  Four other teams got mention in the rankings this week.  The big game in 2A is on Saturday when #1 Lovell goes to Ethete to take on #3 Wyoming Indian.

1A has Snake River a unanimous choice for #1 with all 14 top votes. Burlington is next followed by Midwest. Normative Services moves up a notch even after being upset in overtime by St Stephens. Dubois makes their debut in the top five.  The Rams rank #5 pushing Encampment out of the poll.  Saturday has the feature 1A game as NSI heads down I-25 to take on Midwest.
