For some teams, the time to make a playoff push is now!

That is true in 4A, as there are no matchups this week featuring ranked team vs. ranked team. Gillette is the unanimous #1, being the only undefeated team remaining. Sheridan has a slight lead over East at #2, so the Thunderbirds will hold at #3 like last week. Kelly Walsh has returned to the rankings at #4, after winning the Oil Bowl in overtime last week at Natrona...who has been pushed down to #5. Central has been bumped out for now.

3A is unchanged from last week, and the top 2 spots are unanimous. Powell is still #1 and Douglas is #2. The rest of the poll has Cody at #3, followed by Star Valley and Riverton. The big game this week, has the #4 Braves visiting the #4 Broncs. The winner of this one, has the inside track for at least the #2 seed, and a first round home playoff game. Green River and Jackson both need this weekend's game vs. each other, if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. The same goes for Buffalo at Lander.

2A will have some battles this week. #1 Lovell hosts and unranked Thermopolis team, who needs a win, after being run over last week. #2 Burns heads to winless Moorcroft in what should be a tuneup game for the big one next week. As for this week...the big one has #4 Big Horn at #3 Wheatland. Both teams only have 3 days to get ready for this one, and the winner has a good chance of hosting a first round playoff game. Meanwhile, #5 Lyman is back in the rankings, and makes a short trip to now unranked Mountain View, in the Bridger Valley Bowl. The Buffalos might be in a sore mood after dropping their last 2 games, and beating their arch-rivals would be a relief. Also in the east...the Newcastle at Glenrock game this week, could very well decide the final playoff spot. Friday's Wright at Tongue River loser and Saturday's Greybull at Kemmerer loser, can scrap any post-season plans that they have. The winners of those 2 games, still need some help to get in.

Things are heating up in 1A this weekend with 4 of the top 5 ranked teams playing each other. Upton-Sundance at Rocky Mountain are tied for #4 and have big games against the top 2. The Grizzlies host #1 Cokeville, in a game which should decide the west. Meanwhile the Patriots are at #2 Lusk, and can't afford another loss, after being tripped up by now #3 Southeast. As far as playoff hopes go...it's not looking good for the Burlington at Wind River loser. As for the Pine Bluffs-Lingle-Ft. Laramie loser, there's still a chance, provided Upton-Sundance also loses this week.

It could be interesting in 6-man this weekend. #1 Meeteetse faces perhaps their toughest road test (outside of zero week at Texas), when they travel to #4 Kaycee for a Saturday non-conference game. For #2 Midwest...all they have to do is take care of home business. The Oilers have unranked Guernsey and Kaycee back-to-back home in the next 2 games. If they can deal with that, they'll win the east. #3 Dubois will wrap up their home schedule this week vs. St. Stephens. As for #5 Hulett, all is not lost, because the Red Devils can still get a first round home playoff game, but back to back road trips to Saratoga and H.E.M. await them. The Little Snake River at Wyoming Indian winner this weekend, has a good shot at making the playoffs, while the Ten Sleep at Farson-Eden loser this weekend, can forget about it, along with the H.E.M. at Normative Services loser.
