The pre-season girls basketball coaches/media rankings, suggest that there isn't much change from last season.

The Natrona County Fillies, who feature Stanford-bound Kaylee Johnson, look to be one of, if not the team to beat this year. Behind them is the top 3 teams, from last year's season's state tournament. Defending champ, Gillette is ranked #2, last season's runner-ups, Cheyenne East, at #3, and last season's 3rd place team, Sheridan, is ranked #4. All eyes will be focused on Saturday, December 7th, when NC visits East. The Fillies have a score to settle, after being knocked off of the top spot, at the start of last season, by the Lady Thunderbirds. The #5 ranking is undecided, as Rock Springs, Central and Evanston start the season tied for that ranking.

In 3A, the top 2 teams from last season, are back on top...just not how they finished. Douglas has the #1 ranking, and the Lady Bearcats hope to finish the job this around...that is unless #2 and defending champion Star Valley, has something to say about it. Rawlins finished 3rd last season, and the Lady Outlaws take that spot, going into this season...one spot ahead of #4 Powell. The 2 will hook up on opening weekend in Buffalo. Torrington secures the #5 spot, as the Lady TrailBlazers will cross into Nebraska to start the season.

No one beat Tongue River last year, so they'll start where they left off...at #1, in the 2A rankings. Lovell is a distant 2nd, and after that, it's anyone's guess, as Big Horn, Kemmerer and Wind River, wind up in a 3-way for the #3 ranking.

It's close on top of the 1A ranks...and it figures to be Lingle-Ft. Laramie vs. Cokeville again, come March. The Lady Doggers will start the new season at #1, but the defending champion Lady Panthers are 1 vote behind, and breathing down their necks. All other teams, are way behind the previous 2, in terms of votes. Little Snake River will take the #3 ranking, followed by Hulett at #4 and Upton at #5.
