Golf and XC For Sept 11-15: Schedule and Results
The golf season has two weeks left while Cross Country is starting to taper towards the post season.
Thermopolis and Lusk hosted regular golf events while others were in conference play. At Lusk, Kacie O’Connor and Denton Shaw won again. O’Connor of Sundance, Shaw of Lusk. The Wright boys and Lusk girls were team champions. O’Connor shot a 182 and won by 7 strokes. Shaw carded a 155 and won by 2.
At Thermopolis, Jesse McManis shot a day 1 69 and won the boy’s title in a small field with a two day total of 157. There were only three on the girls side won by Lovell’s Cassie Colvin.
Sheridan hosted an event over the weekend. Gillette’s Ashley Pearson shot a 157 and won by 10 strokes over the field. Austin Hinchey of Kelly Walsh bettered East’s Quintin Pope by a stroke to win the boy’s title. Team wise, Cheyenne East and Gillette were champions.
Lee Hartley of Buffalo won another event. This one the 3A East, or Absaraka Conference, title. Lee went 74 and 88 to win by 8 strokes. Girl’s results saw Rawlins’ Jessie Briscoe go 94 and 86 for 180 to win by 8. Team champs were Buffalo in both the boys and girls divisions.
State golf will be in Lovell, Worland, and Casper this weekend.
Cross Country Results:
Lander hosted a meet this weekend.
At Cody, home town Bronc Devyn Brotherson was first in the boy’s varsity race. Kimberly Holiday of Cody won the girl’s race. Both Cody teams were team champions.
Casper hosted the Glen Legler Memorial race. Kelly Walsh sophomore Hunter Davila won the boy’s race while Natrona Junior Ashley Sondag won the girl’s. The Natrona girls were first as were the Sheridan boys in the team races.
Fort Collins hosted the Liberty Bell race. Gillette, Rock Springs, Laramie, Central and East took part. RS Tiger Ricky Faure would win the Division 1 race with a 15:30.7. Teammate Asher Catterall was 8th. The Tiger boys were fourth overall. Tabitha Simmons of Gillette led the Wyo finish for the girls ending 13th.
Also on Friday were meets in Moorcroft and another in and Roy, Utah. We are still efforting results of those as well.
Previous Golf Results
The Devils Tower invite was held on 9/11. Kacie O’Connor won again. The Sundance golfer shot an 87 to win by 10 strokes. Lusk’s girls won the team title. For the boy’s, Aaron Smith of Moorcroft was first shooting an 80. The Wolves also won the team title. CLICK HERE FOR DEVILS TOWER RESULTS
