UPDATE With Results from Week 1.

 

Sundance, Moorcroft, Riverton, Laramie, and Wheatland hosted events to start the year.

Sundance hosted a one day event.  The Moorcroft boys won by 11 strokes while the Lusk girls ran away from the field.   Lusk’s Denton Shaw,  last years state runner up, won the boys medalist title shooting a 79 while Kacie O'Connor of Sundance won the girls side with an 88.      CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE RESULTS

Moorcroft would host a one day event as well.   Sundance's Kacie O'Connor won that event, too.   the Lusk girls were team champions at Moorcroft as well.   Moorcroft's boys also won their own team title with Aaron Smith, from Moorcroft, winning the individual honors.   CLICK HERE FOR COMPLETE MOORCROFT TOURNAMENT RESULS

 

In Laramie,  home town golfer John Murdock IV won the individual title by 4 strokes over Central's Brian Francois.  In addition,  the Plainsmen won the team title by 19 strokes.   On the girls side,  Kelly Walsh's Amanda Hinchey took medalist honors.  After being tied with Ashley Shackelford of Gillette after day one, Hinchey would pull away and win by six strokes.  The Gillette girls did take the team title, however, placing three in the top ten spots.  COMPLETE LARAMIE INVITE RESULTS

In Riverton, Cody sophomore Sydney Gunn won the girls individual title while the Fillies won the team title.  On the boy's side, Jackson won the team title while Powell's Bowen Prestwich held off Riverton's Aaron Nirider by a single stroke for the title.   Both Gunn and Prestwich were 3A champions last year.  Gunn won her title as a Freshman last year.   CLICK FOR COMPLETE RESULTS HERE

Buffalo swept boys and girls titles at the Wheatland Invite.   Lee Hartley took the boy's medalist title posting a 79 on each day.  Hannah Smylie of Douglas won the girl's individual title.   The Bison boys won by 10 strokes while the Bison girls won by 22.    COMPLETE RESULTS COMING SOON.

 

2012 Golf Preview......

Sheridan’s boys have won the last two 4A titles in a  row and have won three of the last four years.  Other defending boys team champions from a year ago are Powell and Lusk.  Powell won only one tournament last year and it was turned out to be the schools’ first ever boys golf state title.    Bowen Prestwich is back for the Panthers to defend his individual title.

Moorcroft has won the last three girls 2A titles while Gillette and Rawlins were champs last year.   For Rawlins, it was their first ever girls golf title.    Cody’s Sydney Gun is back after she was the 3A champion a year ago as a freshman.
