The High School National Finals Rodeo has been over with for a little more than 1 month, and it's already time to saddle up on the new season.

The fall portion of the Wyoming High School Rodeo season, begins on Sunday, September 2nd, and Monday, September 3rd (aka the Labor Day Holiday) in Wheatland.

The season overall is a little bit shorter than past years, as there will only be 3 rodeos that make-up the fall season, compared to the usual 4.

After Wheatland, cowboys and cowgirls will compete on Sept. 8 and 9 in Riverton, and then wrap up the fall season on September 15 & 16, in Jackson.

Competitors earn points based on what place they finish in, at the end of each rodeo day.

Points carry over the winter-break and into the spring season, which starts in April.

The top 4 in each event at the end of the season in June, will qualify for the 2013 High School National Finals Rodeo, to be held in Rock Springs, from July 14-20.

The Wyoming State Finals rodeo has been moved up by 2 weeks, compared to previous years.

This season, it will be held from June 5 - 9, 2013, at the state fairgrounds in Douglas.
