High School National Finals Rodeo 2014

It is arguably the largest of all rodeos, in terms of the number of competitors, and Wyoming is hosting it.

The 2014 High School National Finals Rodeo will take place July 13-19 at the Sweetwater Events Complex in Rock Springs.

Competitors from roughly 40 US States, as well as several Canadian provinces and Australia, will try to win national championship belt buckles, saddles, and team titles.

Start times each day are at 9am and 7pm, except for the first day, which is evening only.

Everyone is guaranteed 2 runs in the event(s) they qualified for, and each will have one morning run and one evening run.

Round 1 starts on the evening of Sunday, July 13, and concludes around noon on Wednesday, July 16th.

Round 2 starts on the evening of Wednesday, July 16th and concludes around noon on Saturday, July 19th.

If your first run in early in Round 1, then your second run will be late in Round 2, and vice-versa.

For example...if you are scheduled for Wednesday, July 16th, you will go twice that day...in the morning, because you are last to go in Round 1, and then again the same evening, because you are first to go in Round 2.

The upside is that you get your 2 runs over with, but the downside is you then have to sit and wait 2 1/2 days, to find out if you made it into the finals.

If you are first to go in Round 1 (Sunday, July 13th evening), you then have to sit and wait 5 days, because you will be last to go in Round 2 (Saturday, July 19th morning), but on the flip side, you know what time or score you have to get, in order to make it into the finals.

The top 20 in each event on 2 runs combined, are invited back for the championship short-go, starting at 7pm on Saturday, July 19th.
