High School Spring Rodeo Season – Week 2

The High School National Finals Rodeo will be held in Rock Springs this summer, but Wyoming cowboys and cowgirls are going to check out the arena a little bit early.

Here are the winners last week’s rodeo in Laramie. Saturday’s winner is listed first, followed by Sunday’s winner.

Barebacks: Justin Kissack (Gillette) and Garrett Ford (Gillette)

Barrel Racing: Chandler Markel (Scottsbluff, NE) and Cassidy Kruse (Gillette)

Breakaway Roping: Ameila McGuire (Wheatland) won both days.

Bull Riding: Mason Rockafellow (Clearmont) and Hawk Whitt (Thermopolis)

Goat Tying: Shai Schaefer (Torrington) and Coralee Spratt (Lysite)

Pole Bending: Teal Stoll (Pavillion) and Breanna Reimler (Buffalo)

Saddle Broncs: Blaze Cress (Hillsdale) and Cody Miller (Lingle)

Steer Wrestling: Drew Antone (Kinnear) and Kane Butcher (Jelm)

Tie Down Calf Roping: Cameron Irwin (Buffalo) and Trevor Scantling (Buffalo)

Team Roping Saturday: Trever Nelson (Moorcroft) and Tanner Judge (Jackson)

Team Roping Sunday: Abbea Faris (Laramie) and Trent Kelly (Sheridan)

The top 4 in each event at the end of the season are invited to compete at the High School National Finals Rodeo, to be held in Rock Springs in July.

Below is the current top 4 in each event as of the end of the Laramie rodeo.

3. Cutter DeHart (Laramie) and J.W. Meiers (Mills) – 27

4. Jayden Johnson (Casper) and Klay Ready (Dixon) – 26

Weston Mann of Sheridan has 47 points and is in the mix, but he’s used different partners during the fall season.

 

Bull Riding:

1. Hawk Whitt (Thermopolis) – 50.5 points

2-3 (tie). Tyler Orchard (Baggs) – 35

2-3 (tie). Chantz Cates (Buffalo) – 35

4-5 (tie). Bryce Burnell (Arvada) – 28

4-5 (tie). Drew Antone (Kinnear) – 28
