(wyopreps.com) Eight Cowboys and Cowgirls from Wyoming have made the championship short go of the National High School Finals Rodeo in Springfield, Illinois. The top 20 contestants from the first two rounds made it back to the final go Sunday afternoon.
Powell saddle bronc rider Kaleb Asay takes the national lead into the finals with 157 points on two rides. Rock Springs bull rider Seth Glause goes into the finals in 5th. Megan Schrock of Rock Springs is 6th with Lander's Katie Felix 9th in the breakaway. Wheatland goat tyer Dana Weiser is 9th while Treva Bitterman is 17th in the barrels. Bitterman, also from Wheatland, is also 8th in the All Around Cowgirl standings.
Jake James of Daniel is 5th in the boys cutting and sits third in the Overall Rookie Cowboy Standings. Andrea James of Daniel, is 7th in girls cutting. The final go round is Sunday afternoon in Illinois.
