Wyoming Has Two National Champions

(wyopreps.com) Megan Schrock and Kaleb Asay won titles at the National High School Finals Rodeo in Springfield, Illinois, over the weekend. Schrock, from Rock Springs, sat sixth in the average of the breakaway until she won the championship round with the only sub 3.0 run. She moved into first and won the National Title. Lander's Katie Felix finished second in the final round and moved from 9th to 4th overall.

Kaleb Asay won the first round of the saddle broncs. He won his performance in the second round but finished 5th. He took the overall lead into the finals and won it with an 82 to take the National title.

Close Calls

Rock Springs bull rider Seth Glause tied for first in the final go. He ended up second in the average on three rides. Seth also finished 7th in the All Around Cowboy points.

Daniel cutter Andrea James won the championship go round but finished second in the nation by a single point.

In the Finals

Jake James of Daniel was 8th in the boys cutting and finished third in the Rookie All Around Cowboy total. Goat Tyer Dana Weiser of Wheatland finished 15th in the goat tying. Treva Bitterman of Wheatland ended 18th in the barrel racing. She also just missed the top ten in the All Round Cowgirl competition.
