(wyopreps.com) A pair of Fremont County athletes have taken the Year End All Around Awards at the State High School Finals Rodeo in Douglas. Shoshoni's Chance Hampton and Riverton's Devin Nicholls were crowed the Boys and Girls All Around winners respectively.
Just a freshman, Devin Nicholls also earned the Rookie of the Year award. She’ll go to nationals as the first place qualifier in the poles and will also go in the goat tying. She cleaned up on saddles and belt buckles at the awards ceremony on Sunday night. It's the second year in a row a freshman has won the girls all around as Lance Creek's (Lusk) Jordan Thurston won it last year.
Hampton won the steer wrestling saddle and another for the all around. He’ll go to nationals as the first place qualifier in the calf roping. He and his partner were leading the team roping going into the final weekend but didn't get the loops to fall at state and didn't do as well as they would've liked.
State Rodeo results and National Qualifiers are coming soon to Wyopreps.com
