(wyopreps.com) The list of 07 Absaraka Conference volleyball players has been released to Wyopreps. Four athletes were chosen from Wheatland High School. They were Janelle Patterson, Amanda Hall, Paige Hellbaum, and Bailey Yost. Rawlins had two selections as did Lander and Newcastle. Buffalo, Douglas, Glenrock, and Torrington each have athletes on this list.

The name Absaraka was what was presented to us for the list from the 3A East Conference. My best guess would be it's named for something geographic in that the others are the Five Rivers Conference and the South East Wyoming Athletic Conference. Other than that theory, you're guess is as good as mine!

Absaraka is the name of a Native American Tribe that considered the Northern part of Wyoming home. They currently have a reservation just north of Sheridan across the Wyoming/Montana Border. There is also a mountain range in Northwest Wyoming/Southwest Montana
