YES!

GO STAR VALLEY BRAVES!
coming from a school so much smaller than the ones they are competing with they are proving that classification has nothing on them when it comes to their wrestling squad.

Good Job Camels. Im tired of hearing this talk about smaller schools and we have 2 into one. You cant take away from the individual effort of all these kids. Its fun to watch every single wrestler at the State tournament. No excuses just man versuses man to see who wins.

4A State brackets are located at
http://www.whsaa.org/stateevents/wrestli...

Seems strange when you have to wrestle your own team member in the first round of the state tournament. Even stranger when the same team has to do it twice or three times and only one weight class apart. 103 GR vs GR, 112 Rock Springs vs Rock Springs, 125 NC vs NC, 130 NC vs NC, 130 ASV vs ASV, 145 ASV vs ASV 189 ASV vs ASV, and 135 Central vs Central. If this has to occur let's spread it out so that no team is put in this situation twice or three times. We ran into this problem a few years ago with one team receiving more byes than anyone else and rectified it and we need to do it in this situation also.

I am sick of hearing about Star Valley. Yes they are a good wrestling team, but it is now getting a little bit overboard. I think that you keep bringing up that you are a small school because then you have an excuse to fall back on when you get beat. That is all we are going to be hearing. "We lost because we are a smaller school and don't have as much wrestlers". I can hear it now. Why can't people just admit that Gillette is a good wrestling team and deserved to win? Instead of making up excuses of loosing, give support in the team that wins. If Star Valley wins, then they are the best wrestling team. Just by a few people saying that Gillette should have two high schools doesn't mean that it is going to happen. The time will come. So until then, shut your mouths.
Does it really matter when you wrestle your own kids? Gillette wrestled their own kids in the first round last year and still ended up winning the tournament. Maybe if both wrestlers would have placed, they wouldn't have to wrestle in the first round. Plus, wrestle backs are going to be very important in this tournament. Let the best man win, and the other wrestle his butt off in the wrestle backs. You all knew that this could happen if two wrestlers were able to qualify for state, so why complain about it now? No one complained when two Gillette kids wrestled. Seems strange now doesn't it GSCOTTN?
p.s. Isn't it strange that Gillette has done so good and that most of those same kids wrestled Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling? That right there tells you how good the "feeder" program is for Gillette. It doesn't have anything to do with one or two schools. Anything to say now?

If I remeber right SV has been begging to be put in 4A so they could show Gillette what was up. Now you have your chance and you are already creating excuses. It only gets better Gillette will be even better next year.

I am not complaining. My concern was for all teams and the individual wrestlers that have to wrestle each other in the first round. I do not believe it is the best interest of the sport to wrestle members of your own team at any time. I did not vote for two wrestlers per weight due to the fact that I was not in a position to do so; but if I would have been in that position I would not have voted for it. Jimmy Owens and Cody Brown both of Natrona wrestled for the state championship last year at 152. It was a no win situation for either of the wrestlers.

Well, I didn't hear any complaining when two Gillette wrestlers were in a championship match, or two Gillette kids wrestling in the Semi-Finals match that would put them into the Championship. But I guess that happens when you don't win a state title for a while. You start complaining and want to change the rules again. But you have to put it this way, if there wasn't this rule, one of them would have stayed home and not even been able to compete in state even though they were the best 2 wrestlers in the state. What is wrong with giving kids a better chance to go to state? But at the same time, that is a mess for the whole state with teams like Gillette. So that makes you think of this. If Gillette can take that many kids to state, have kids wrestle eachother in the championship match, place more JV kids than most varsity wrestlers for other schools, and have 9 All-State wrestlers, would a second school really give other schools a chance at winning state?

Wow, guys. Lighten up. Let's remember...this isn't life. It's just wrestling.

its a blind draw! you can't spread it out. but i will agree,if we are going to drag a one day tournament into two, why not place all 8? then we would not be wrestling team mates in the first round. get a clue wyogal WRESTLING IS LIFE !!!!!

Ok then. I, for one, have a life after wrestling. (And I LOVE wrestling!)

Suggest for removal | 1 of 1 people found this comment useful.

ok.. how about everyone grow up and let the kids wrestle and have fun doing it.. i know many small schools that can go out and kick butt.. and its not just because they are small or big... it doesnt matter about how many kids are on the team it matters about who the kids are on the team and which ones wants to go out and do their best and work hard. So QUIT whining.. its annoying... who cares when people from the same school wrestle eachother.. in the end it shows who's best...

Why would someone with the username ball player even make a comment on this subject.

I find it interesting that DWU wrestling & debo have so much to say. To bad so much of it isn't true. Star Valley never begged to compete with Gillette, they just haven't whined about it. The team and the coaches aren't talking about the small school thing. They are just working hard, just like Gillette & Natrona. As for wrestling kids from your own school. Star Valley does it every year. As far as placing in your regional to avoid the draw in at state. Gillette didn't wrestle the same level of competition as the teams on our side did.(They did a nice job at their regional regardless of who they wrestled.) So lets' not bang that drum too loudly. We look forward to a good ol' hard fought state tourney. We are excited to wrestle with Gillette, they are a class act. To bad you guys don't represent them well.

Good luck to ALL the teams big or small! Lets remember - Good competition, good sportsmanship, good friendship and good health is the most important!

Good luck to ALL!

We don't represent them well? Go up and look at the first comments made. They are by people talking about how small SV is and how good that they are doing. And if i remember right, we did have all those teams in the West in our Region. This was the first year they weren't and we still won with teams like Natrona and KW. So before you start saying how we don't represent Gillette well, just take a look at how much people say about us. A person can only take so much and people have hated Gillette for years. And don't say that the coaches and wrestlers don't say anything. I remember being on the stand getting the 1st place award right behind SV and them looking back and saying stuff about beating us next year... And don't get me wrong, I like a lot of the wrestlers from SV and Natrona. I have traveled and wrestled with them for years. I'm just tired of people talking bad about Gillette, that's all. It will be a good state this year and probably the best tournament in a while just because of SV being in there. I have loved watching SV ever since I was little. Now that the best is in one class, let the competition begin!

I was at the awards presentation as well and heard at least 2 of the SV wrestlers say they cant wait tell next year to knock the Camels off the number one step. I repect all wrestlers it takes alot of guts to do what they do. I represent the camels well believe me. This should be a good one.

So you think you are the only ones who have been blasted for your success for years. Well guess again it has happened to us as well. Star Valley has been the Gillette of the 3A wrestling for years I am saying it isn't the coaches or kids whining it is some one outside the program. Yes we too look forward to the best tourney ever. Good Luck to all.

I wish SV the best and may the best team win.

Suggest for removal | 1 of 1 people found this comment useful.

Yes, I will be the first person to admit that SV had taken a hit for years because they have been the best 3A wrestling team. People say that they are too big for 3A when really, they are a little school for 4A. Is it the wrestlers fault that they are so good? No! But a person has to look at this too. Look at states like Wyoming, South Dakota, and Montana. The best wrestling schools aren't in the highest classes. So that tells you right there that it starts in the "feeder" programs. Look at all the good teams in Wyoming for example. The majority of them wrestled Freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. But to tell you the truth, this little "rival" is only going to make it more fun. What we are all saying isn't meant to hurt anyone, it's just to voice our opinion and talk about wrestling and other issues. I love it. Would this be useful if no one agreed with us? Keep on talking! Go Gillette and Go Ricky F.!

Last year at state the anti-Star Valley sentiment was pretty intense...I'm looking forward to a state competition where people aren't booing Star Valley...it will be the first time in a while. It sounds like Gillette knows what it feels like, too. Also, the competition this year is going to be great! I am so excited. Good luck to all the wrestlers...especially Star Valley, and especially Star Valley's 215 pounder--he is kind of amazing.

Win or lose, I am going to enjoy the sport of wrestling. That is what I have taught my boys to do. They will do their best at state. Win or lose, in our house, God gets the Glory!

So, to all the wrestlers all around the state, go have fun! You are only teenagers once!

GO BRAVES!!! You've been through a lot this year, and you've really pulled together! Star Valley has always had a strong athletic program, especially their wrestling program!! Keep it up in 4A!

Suggest for removal | 0 of 0 people found this comment useful.

Alright, I'm a wrestler and i think most of the wrestlers in the state would agree that we really don't care about gillette splitting up into two schools. Gillete is definately the best team in 4A they've taken 4 consecutive state titles, that's no doubt impressive. The kids just wanna have fun and wrestle it seems more that parents are the ones arguing over who's better and creating excuses for who's not. Whoever wins the match in the end is the better wrestler that's how it is there's no excuse!!!
