At the toughest and biggest tournament in Wyoming, Gillette, Star Valley, and Natrona were separated by five points from top to bottom. Everyone was expecting a close race. Well, they got it. After Day One, just five and a half points separate the three. Star Valley and Natrona are dead even with 179 points while Gillette is third with 173.5. It's even right down to the finals. Natrona has 7 going for titles with Gillette having six and Star Valley five.

3A sees Powell running away from the pack. Early on, Douglas held a slim lead, but, the Panthers have struck and are out in front 198.5 to 160 over the Bearcats. 8 Panthers are in the title match. In other notes, Torrington's Jared Hatley is in the finals and will go for his fourth straight state title Saturday. Lander's Bret Klopp is still undefeated in over 50 matches this season. The Tiger Junior is in the finals, one match from a perfect season.

2A has top ranked Cokeville in the lead. The Panthers are up on Lusk's Tigers 141 to 104. Dubois is a distant third with Greybull/Riverside right on their heels. Five Panthers will wrestle for State Titles.

In other notes, Greybull/Riverside's Kasey Garnhart is in the finals looking for his fourth straight state title. He and Hatley will both wrestle for the University of Wyoming next year. Big Piney is in their first year of wrestling as a team. Max Vichy and Aaron Camis are both in the state finals for the Punchers in their first year under the Piney banner.
