Lovell senior Kristen Scheffler will play for Joe Legerski's Wyoming Cowgirls next season.

Lovell senior Kristen Scheffler won the 2008 girl's basketball Gatorade Player of the Year. Gatorade sponsors the program to honor the best high school player in each state. Each state winner is then considered for the National Player of the Year honor.

The 5'11 shooting guard lead the Lady Bulldogs to a 21-6 record an regional runner ups. She averaged nearly 21 points per game, tops in class 3A. She averaged 2 blocked shots and shot field goals 43% this year. She ranked in 3A in the following categories: steals (1st), blocked shots (1st), scoring (1st), 3 pt % (1st), field goal % (10th), and free throw % (3rd).

Scheffler has signed her letter of intent to play basketball at the University of Wyoming for head coach Joe Legerski and the Cowgirls.

Congrats to Kristen. Looking forward to seeing her at UW! Just saw that Justin Nelson of Gillette won the boys. That a boy Justin!
