The first top 5 coaches/media poll for the season have been released, and 2 teams that are about half-hour apart from each other, rule the roost for the moment.

The Sheridan Broncs take the #1 spot in Class 4A. The defending state champs are out to a 4-0 start on the season and have yet to give up a goal. That will be tested this weekend, when conference play starts. The team that they beat for the title, Laramie (ranked in a tie for #2), visits on Saturday. Laramie and Central are tied for #2, and the Indians host East on Friday. Rock Springs and Kelly Walsh occupy the #4 and #5 positions. The Tigers start conference play Saturday at Riverton, while the Trojans visit Evanston and Green River this weekend.

The top 4 teams in 3A will be occupied playing each other this weekend. On Friday, #2 Jackson visits #4 Lander, but the big one is on Saturday when #1 Buffalo goes to #3 Cody, in a re-match of what had been the last 4 state championship games. Star Valley takes the #5 position, and has the weekend off.
