About halfway into the season, and it's time to unveil the first top 5 polls in volleyball.

We start in 4A with a #1 vs. #2 clash this weekend. On Friday, it's #2 East at #1 Gillette, then on Saturday, it's #5 Central at #1 Gillette. East and Central also visit Sheridan this weekend. What may raise a few eyebrows is that Evanston swept Kelly Walsh this past weekend, yet the Lady Trojans are ranked #3, ahead of the #4 Lady Red Devils. KW has conference business this weekend at Riverton and home vs. Rock Springs, while Evanston goes to Afton to play in the Star Valley Invitational.

3A will be a bit busy as well this weekend. On Thursday, Converse County rivals will serve it up against each other, when #1 Douglas visits #4 Glenrock. #2 Star Valley hosts their own invitational this weekend, while #3 Cody has the weekend off to lick their wounds, after getting swept at home by Powell. There was a 3-way tie for the #5 spot between Rawlins, Lyman and Lander. Rawlins plays at Glenrock on Saturday, while Lyman hosts their own invitational, and Lander entertains Mountain View and Powell.

The 2A and 1A polls are a bit hard to gauge, since there are some scores still missing from the past few weeks (email missing scores to: scores@wyopreps.com).

In the 2A ranks, Shoshoni is on top despite taking their first loss of the season this past weekend at Big Horn. Undefeated Southeast checks in at #2, while 1-loss Kemmerer is #3. Wright and Tongue River are tied for the #4 spot. There's no big games scheduled this weekend, putting ranked team vs. ranked team.

For the 1A teams, Little Snake River will take their #1 ranking over to the Lyman Invitational this weekend. The voters put Lingle-Ft. Laramie at #2, and defending state champion Cokeville at #3. Burlington and Encampment are tied for #4.

There is one game of note in inter-class, and that's #3 1A Cokeville at #3 2A Kemmerer on Thursday.
