The defending 3A champion Lady Broncs got called for 2 handballs in the box, during the second half, and the Lady Warriors cashed in on both of them.

Soccer season also means it's time to get the bicycles out of the garage. As for me...I'm still trying to get the training wheels off of mine. I know...very embarrassing.

Jackson at Worland...first half...Worland wearing the white...that's Haley Schneider on the far side...she was running out of room and had to take the shot before the defense got to the net...but that was not going to get by Faith Hamlin...the senior knocks that ball down, and we are right back where we started.

The Lady Warriors would try again...this time from the corner...Schneider was taking the low road, hoping that someone else would knock it in...not a bad strategy, however Hamlin got ahead of plan and brought it to a halt. She's one of 5 seniors on this team, and they have her in the right spot.

On the other end...Jackson had their chances as well...this is Taylor Graue...I hope I said that right...good shot from the front of the box, and Anna Hepp with an equally as good save...nothing doing on the scoreboard after the first 40 minutes.

Second half...both teams now going in the other direction...the visitors got called for a handball in the box...Schneider is called on for a penalty kick...Hamlin did break in the right direction, but the ball was just out of her reach and it's in the net for a goal...as the home team would take a 1-nothing lead.

The Lady Broncs would try to get that point back...Graue's first shot hits the cross bar and stays in play...the defending 3A state champs would reset and give it another shot...this time the ball is fired right at Hepp, who did not have much trouble blocking that one...and she was still keeping the opposition off of the scoreboard.

Later...this may have been Jackson's best opportunity...but there was one small problem...Anna Barker passes ahead to Julie Cervantes who has a one-on-one opportunity in front of the net...but it was a wasted opportunity, as the line judge called offsides, thus the goal is waved off, and the visitors still have no points.

They kept trying...aggression has advantages...Abby Brazil sees a chance on the far side goal-post...however Hepp would swat that chance away as well...now give them a moment...she was not out of danger just yet...here comes another try and Hepp with another save, but the deflection took a bad bounce...Brazil was waiting on it, and Hepp with a good recovery to snuff out that play...we did not get her numbers, but she had a good game.

Meanwhile...Jackson would get called for another hand ball in the box on defense...Schneider steps up again for the PK and finds the top shelf for another goal...Worland would start their season, by cashing in on Jackson miscues and surprise the champs...2-nil.
