There's a new #1 ranked team in the latest coaches/media rankings, and another team should get the #1 label next week.

The latest 4A boys rankings saw a little bit of a shuffle from last week. Laramie retains the #1 ranking, and Gillette moves back up to #2, after winning on the road vs. now #4 Central last week. Elsewhere, Green River has moved up to #3 and Sheridan takes the last spot at #5. The game of interest is Thursday, when Central travels to Laramie for a 4A East conference game.

No change at all in the latest 3A boys rankings. It's still Jackson at #1, followed by Buffalo, Lander, Powell and Star Valley. SV is scheduled to play at Lander on Saturday.

At about 7pm on Tuesday, 2 things happened. The polls closed, and the final whistle sounded on Laramie's 3-2 win over Cheyenne East. The votes had already been cast by the time word of the final score got out. So, the Lady Thunderbirds are currently the #1 ranked team, with the Lady Plainsmen at #2, but expect that trend to be reversed next week. Undefeated Green River is starting to get some attention, and they have moved up to #3. Sheridan holds at #4, while Central fell to #5, after a bad week last week. Laramie is at Central on Thursday.

The new #1 is in the 3A girls ranks. Lander has climbed over #2 Cody and #3 Worland for the spot, and have it unanimously. The Lady Tigers should get a test on Saturday, when they host #4 Star Valley on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Fillies and Lady Warriors will battle each other in a 3A NW game on Thursday at Worland. Buffalo checks in at #5.
