Beating a team that's ranked by the coaches/media, would build some great momentum heading into the stretch run of the regular season...but that's easier said than done.

Friday is going to be a busy day in Class 4A, with the top 4 teams vs. each other. The much anticipated match-up between #1 Kelly Walsh and #3 Rock Springs (up 1 spot from last week) will take place in Sweetwater County. The other matchup has arch rivals, #4 Sheridan at #2 Gillette. The top 3 spots in the rankings are pretty concrete according to the voters, but #4 and #5 is a bit of a toss-up. In the previous 2 weeks, Cheyenne Central beat Cheyenne East, Sheridan beat Central, and East beat Sheridan. The Thunderbirds currently have the #5 position, but every team has to play each other twice in conference play, so who know what will happen the second time around? Another game of interest this weekend is also on Friday, when Cheyenne Central and Cheyenne South hook up for the first time, since last year's state championship game.

In Class 3A, it's Riverton's world, and every other team is living in it. The Wolverines are still the unanimous #1, but they won't take it easy this weekend. Anything can happen on a road trip to arch-rival Lander. Torrington is now up to #2 (unanimous), after last weekend's big win vs. former #2, now #3 Douglas. The TrailBlazers have a big road test this weekend, when they visit #4 and defending champ Worland. Cody continues to rank #5.

There was a little bit of change in the latest 2A rankings. Pine Bluffs and Wind River are still ranked #1 and #2, and both are unanimous. Meanwhile, Big Horn stays put at #3. Lovell and Wyoming Indian trade spots, and it's the Bulldogs ranked #4 and the Chiefs at #5. Saturday should be an interesting, when WIHS visits Lovell.

There's no change in latest 1A rankings...and the only game of interest this weekend is an inter-class matchup. #1 Burlington visits #2 2A Wind River on Thursday. As for the rest of the rankings...Kaycee is still ranked #2, with Little Snake River at #3, Lingle-Ft. Laramie at #4 and Cokeville #5. The Panthers start their second run through the conference this weekend, by visiting unranked Encampment and Saratoga.
