Just enough happened during the holiday break to cause some movement in the first coaches/media rankings of 2019.

There's 1 undefeated team remaining in 4A, thus there's a new #1 ranked team. Sheridan is now on top, after former #1, now #2 Cheyenne East picked up their first loss during the break. The Broncs recently put an exclamation point on their claim to the top spot by beating #3 Kelly Walsh by a comfortable margin, but a rematch is on the schedule this weekend at Sheridan. Thunder Basin in now in the top 5, after beating East and finishing runner up at the Energy Classic Tournament. The Bolts will head west this weekend for games at 3A Lyman and 4A Star Valley. Cheyenne Central stays in the top 5, at the #5 spot.

3A is arguably the most competitive class, because a lot of the top 5 teams have already played each other, and there's more to come. Buffalo and Lander maintain the positions at #1 and #2. Although the Tigers have a win vs. the defending champ Bison, they've had a little trouble against other teams within 3A. Worland moves up to #3 this week and is preparing to host the Big Horn Basin Shootout this weekend. Douglas drops 1 spot, after losing to unranked Mountain View last week. Rawlins is back in at #5, while Torrington drops out. The TrailBlazers get a chance to prove they are top 5 material, when they visit the #4 Bearcats on Friday.

The excitement in 2A happened back on Tuesday, and the rest of the week doesn't seem too exciting. Pine Bluffs is the unanimous #1, and will play in Colorado this weekend. #2 Wright just dismantled #5 Glenrock, to show there's no winter break rust on them. #3 Wyoming Indian will play at the Big Horn Basin Shootout this weekend, while #4 Big Horn will renew their rivalry with Tongue River.

1A is a powder keg waiting to explode with 3 southwest teams ranked #1, #2 and #3, but teams will have to wait another week before that happens. #1 Encampment and #2 Farson-Eden start quadrant play this week, but not vs. each other. #3 Cokeville will take on Idaho opponents, wile #4 Upton will play games in South Dakota. Burlington is back in top 5 as the #5 teams and will play in the Big Horn Basin Tournament this weekend, vs. mostly teams in bigger classes.
