The voters that put together the weekly coaches/media rankings took note of last week's games, which had a few surprises.

The only 2 undefeated teams in 4A, are the unanimous #1 and #2 teams heading into this weekend's mid-season clash. #1 Sheridan visits #2 Rock Springs in game that will determine who the top team really is, until it's time for the playoffs. There's another ranked matchup this weekend as well, as #3 Gillette play at #4 Cheyenne South. Both teams were stunned last week, by surprise losses. One key to this game will be which team will do a better job of shaking off the loss. Natrona's huge win last week, impressed the voters enough to put the Mustangs at #5, replacing Cheyenne East, who has a victory vs. NC.

The voters have no doubt as to which team should be ranked #1 in 3A. Star Valley collected all the first place votes heading into the start of conference play. Green River holds steady at #2 and Douglas the same at #3. Torrington has the #4 ranking to themselves, and Worland is in at #5. It's been awhile since the Warriors have been ranked, and just like any other ranked team, they have to go out each week and prove they are worthy of the ranking.

There was very little change in the latest 2A rankings. #1-#4 is still Glenrock, Greybull, Big Horn and Mountain View. Lovell is back in the rankings at #5. Even though the Bulldogs lost a close game at Greybull last week, the voters were impressed enough with that fact that they were able to hang around, until the end. This weekend has #4 MV at #5 Lovell, while Glenrock will be focusing their attention on a state title rematch at unranked Wheatland.

Things could get real interesting this weekend in 1A as conference play starts and all 6 ranked teams play each other. 6 is the correct number, because there's a tie at the #5 ranking. Upton-Sundance is the unanimous #1 and hosts an undefeated-undefeated battle with #3 Pine Bluffs. Southeast climbs up to #2 and hosts the former #2 team Tongue River this weekend. The Eagles share the #5 position with Rocky Mountain, who makes the long road trip to Cokeville. The Grizzlies have never beaten the Panthers in 11 tries.

The 6-man schedule...according to the new rankings...doesn't have much going on, but that doesn't mean a surprise can't happen. Meeteetse is still on top at #1. Kaycee and Farson-Eden share the #2 spot. Little Snake River holds course at #4, and Guernsey-Sunrise is back in the top 5, at #5.
