Very little movement happened in the latest girls basketball rankings...the last ones of the 2013 calendar year.

The Natrona Fillies are the unanimous #1 ranked team in 4A, and got a good test last week at home vs. 2 teams from Billings. They could get another good test next weekend at the Energy Classic tournament in Gillette, where it's possible that would meet up with the #2 Gillette Lady Camels. If not, Gillette visits Natrona the following week on Friday January 10th. Actually the Lady Camels are tied for #2 with Sheridan. East is not far behind both at #4. Then there's a lot of room separating #4 and #5 Cheyenne Central. The last spot seems to be a difficult ranking to hold onto.

The same 5 teams are in the 3A rankings, with only a small amount of movement. Torrington and Rawlins trade places, with the Lady TrailBlazers now at #2, and the Lady Outlaws now at #4. The rest of the poll still has Douglas at #1, Lyman at #3 and Wheatland at #5. Lyman beat Rawlins last week at the Lander Classic, but a rematch is on the schedule for Saturday January 4th in Eagle country. Meanwhile, Torrington and Wheatland will prepare for battle vs. each other on their first weekend back from the break.

In 2A, it's Lovell way out in front of everyone else. The Lady Bulldogs may have lost in the finals of the Big Horn Basin Tournament last week, but seeing how it was against a 3A team, the voters did not hold that against them. Kemmerer climbs up to #2 after a good showing vs. teams from other classes at the Flaming Gorge Classic. Tongue River is one vote behind them at #3. Wind River is getting some attention. The Lady Cougars grab the #4 ranking, heading into the Fremont County Shootout this coming weekend. Burns settles for the #5 ranking. Former #3 Sundance, was kicked out of the rankings after picking up their first 3 losses last week, but there's time to recover.

1A had some slight changes...in fact voters are not sure which team is #5. Encampment and Rock River share that spot, and played each other last week at RR...but since a final score never was reported in, the voters were undecided on what to do. As for the rest of the rankings...Lingle-Ft. Laramie is still #1, followed by Cokeville, undefeated Upton, and Little Snake River. One inter-class game of note is scheduled for Saturday, January 4th, when #2 2A Kemmerer visits #2 1A Cokeville.

This is the last poll for 2013, because very few teams are playing the next 2 weeks. The next girls rankings will not come out until Thursday, January 16th.
