You wouldn't think that a team that went 2-19 would make the state tournament but Wind River found a way and deserve some credit for that. The Cougars earned a trip to Casper with a win over Big Piney in the Southwest Quad regional; 15-25, 25-22, 25-17, 19-25, and 15-10.  Wind River ended up being the #4 seed from the West but that also gave them a date with eventual state champion Sundance in the first round. The Cougars had their hands full and lost that match 25-4, 25-18, 25-9. In the consolation round, Wind River was eliminated by Glenrock in 3 straight 25-18, 25-14, and 25-9.

The Cougars had a couple of players that were named all-conference in Harlie Hardcastle and Kaylee Leseberg. It was a strange combination of players in 2020 with all seniors and freshmen. So the Cougars will have 5 seniors to replace including Hardcastle. But Leseberg will be in a group of 7 sophomores expected in 2021.
