Bearcats Win Third Straight 3A Title
Douglas came back from a 14 point deficit to win their 30th straight game and 3rd consecutive State 3A Football Championship.
Buffalo got a 75 yard pass from Hayden Kessler to Aaron Tyser that put the Bison at the 5 yard line on their first play from scrimmage. Jace Jensen scored twice from short range to put the Bison up 14-0.
Douglas answered with a 49 yard pass to Justin Melton from Hayden Barker and then another 18 yard pass from the same twosome to make it 14 each at half.
In the second, Melton took a tipped Kessler pass back to the 1 yard line and a play later, Barker made it 20 to 14. Melton would then take a Bison punt 47 yards to the Bison 3 yard line. The Cat's would settle for a 20 yard field goal that was good by Saxon Bull, but, a roughing the kicker penalty by Buffalo gave the Bearcats four downs from the four. Barker would score again and make it 26 to 14 where the game would end.
