Before March Madness can start, we have to deal with the February frenzy...and with 2 1/2 weeks left in 4A/3A, and 1 1/2 weeks left in 2A/1A, this maybe the time for it to happen.

Gillette retains their #1 ranking in the 4A poll, and although both of their opponents this week are unranked, the Camels have to be chomping at the bit, for another crack against Laramie this Friday. This time, it's in the Castle of Chaos. Rock Springs holds at #2, and will play their home finale this Thursday vs. county rival Green River. Sheridan is back up to #3, and the Broncs will host Kelly Walsh and Laramie this weekend. Evanston is back down to #4, and will embark on their longest road trip this weekend against Riverton and #5 Natrona. As for the Mustangs, they have to deal with Star Valley on Friday, before they can turn their attention to the Red Devils.

Back on Saturday, Torrington visited Buffalo and went blow for blow with the Bison...and won. That puts the defending state champs back on top of the 3A poll. The Trailblazers have a week to get ready for their Saturday, at home vs. #3 Wheatland. The Bison were bumped down to #2, and will host #4 Rawlins on Friday and then hit the road to Thermopolis on Saturday. Although Wheatland dropped 105 points on Glenrock, the last time the 2 teams played, the Bulldogs might want to save some on their energy on Friday (at Glenrock), in preparation for Saturday's game at #1 Torrington. #4 Rawlins will hit the road to #2 Buffalo on Friday and then host Glenrock on Saturday. As for #5 Douglas, the Bearcats visit Thermopolis on Friday, and then return home to deal with some unfinished business vs. Newcastle on Saturday.

The top 5 in 2A in unchanged from last week. Undefeated Big Horn holds at #1, and will pay a visit to enemy territory on Friday at Tongue River, before returning home on Saturday vs. Greybull. #2 Lovell will play an inter-class game at Thermopolis on Thursday, then visit Riverside on Friday. All the 2A attention will be in Ethete on Saturday, for the clash between #3 Kemmerer and #4 Wyoming Indian. That could decide the southwest conference...or possibly force another coin flip like year...but before that, Kemmerer has to visit Wind River first, while the Chiefs have to deal with Big Piney. #5 Lusk has already wrapped the top seed in the 2A Southeast. The Tigers host Upton on Friday, and then conclude conference business at home vs. Pine Bluffs on Saturday.

No change this week in the 1A poll either, as #1, #2 and #3 are all unanimous...and some big games loom. #1 Little Snake River visits #4 H.E.M. on Saturday. #2 St. Stephens will have their hands full, hosting Burlington on Friday, and then visit #5 Ten Sleep on Saturday. Not much is on the agenda for #3 Kaycee. Their Friday game at Arvada-Clearmont isn't happening, because the Panthers have folded up shop on this season. That just leaves a Saturday at Meeteetse to worry about.
