Cheyenne Central's Ethan Merrill is in rare company as he won 2 events at the 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships for the 3rd straight year.  The 200 IM has been one of the events that Merrill has dominated for the past few years as he turned a winning time of 1.57.77 on Saturday at the Campbell County Aquatic Center. His winning time in this event in 2022 was 157.09 and he clocked in at 2.00.37 in 2021.

Merrill's other bread-and-butter event is the 100 breaststroke and he took the top of the podium on Saturday in 59.58. He was the only swimmer in the field to break the 1-minute mark and as a junior, he won this event with a time of 59.13 and won it as a sophomore in 59.84.

Merrill and his Central team started out the day with a state championship in the 200 medley relay and finished the day with a 3rd place finish in the 400 free relay. He had a terrific meet and was named the Swimmer of the Meet and also the Co-Athlete of the Year.
