With less than 1 week to go until tip-off, it's time to reveal the wyopreps.com coaches and media pre-season top 5 poll. This article is for the girls. The season actually starts on Tuesday, November 30th with Lyman at Kemmerer, while most other teams will start later in the week.

In Class 4A, East Conference teams hold down the top 4 spots. Sheridan is the pre-season #1, followed by the defending champs East at #2, and Gillette just 1 point behind at #3. Last season's runner-up Laramie is #4, followed by Natrona at #5. Sheridan and Gillette will open the season at home vs. Green River. While most of the rest will be in Cheyenne. NC will play both East and Laramie at the McDonald's Invitational.

The west lays claim to the top 3 spots in the 3A poll, lead by the 4-time defending state champion Lady Broncs from Jackson Hole. They will play in at the East-West Invitational in Cody, next weekend, along with the 3rd ranked Fillies...just not against each other. Mountain View is #2. The Lady Buffalos will be at the Thermopolis Invitational to start the season. Torrington will start the season at #4, and head over to a tournament at Scottsbluff, NE. They will be joined by #5 Douglas, but the Lady Bearcats have to share that spot with Buffalo, who will play in Cody next weekend.

Lovell might have something to prove this season in 2A. The Lady Bulldogs placed 3rd last year with a 22-6 record. Now they're #1 in the pre-season polls. They will open up play at the Big Horn Basin Shootout at Greybull. Big Horn is last season's state-runner ups and the Lady Rams will pick up where they left off at #2, heading over to Lusk for their Invitational. Defending state champ Tongue River starts at #3 heading into the Thermopolis Invitational. Wyoming Indian is #4 and will spend the opening weekend in Billings, MT. Pine Bluffs takes the #5 position, by 1 point over Rocky Mountain.

1A has the usual suspects in the top 5. 2-time defending champ Burlington leads the way, and will host the Big Horn Basin Shootout next weekend. State runner-up Kaycee is #2, and will head over to the Upton tournament. Cokeville begins the season at #3 and at the Carbon County Invite at Encampment. #4 Little Snake River will join the Lady Panthers at that invitational. Rounding out the top 5 is Guernsey who will also be at Upton, to start the season. 1A will have 1 less team this season, as Ten Sleep has announced they will be unable to put together a team.
