The Powell girls basketball program has been remarkably consistent as they posted their 7th consecutive winning season. The Panthers ended up with a 4th place finish this year at the 3A State Tournament with 17 wins overall and 10 losses. In the quarterfinal round of the state tournament, Powell held on to beat Rawlins 51-50 in a game that they led by as many as 10 points. Rachel Bonander was solid with 19 points with 15 rebounds and Aubrie Stenerson backed that up with 17 points. In the 3A semi-finals, Powell absorbed a 60-30 loss to Lyman in which they were outscored 19-2 in the 2nd quarter. Bonander led with way with 15 for the Panthers. In the 3rd/4th place game, Powell was defeated by Buffalo 48-30 with Bonander achieving a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Stenerson and Bonander each averaged 12 points a game with Stenerson named all-state. Both of those players will exit the program as seniors along with 5 others, so it will be a new world for the Panthers next season.
