Antonio Avila

The first recipient of the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Year Award for boys wrestling is Antonio Avila from Thunder Basin High School.

He did not lose match in his junior and senior seasons.

A state champion skier and three four-time state champion wrestlers earned the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Wyoming WyoPreps Athlete of the Week honors for Feb. 28, 2024.

Avila dominated the 4A 144 pound weight class at State this year.

The annual tournament in Virginia Beach features the best of the best.

They return a trio of state champions so they're loaded.

There were close to 6000 entries in last year's tournament.

A large group of grapplers from seniors to freshmen competed in this meet.

Lyman's Sefton Douglass made history by winning his 4th state title.
