The coaches and media rankings have been a guide to determine which teams are contenders for the state championships, but in the end, it will be the teams themselves that will determine which ones will take home the trophies.

For the 4A teams, #1 Central and #2 Gillette have secured a first round bye in the East Regional Tournament and a spot in the state tournament bracket. Meanwhile, #4 Cheyenne South will try to secure no worse than the #3 seed in the east, by hosting Cheyenne East and visiting Central to close out the regular season. The west is still up for grabs. #3 Rock Springs hosts #5 Kelly Walsh on Friday. An RS win would secure the top seed, while KW needs a win and a win vs. GR be the #1 seed. for the West Regional Tournament.

What better way to close out the 3A regular season, by having a #1 vs. #2 clash that's also round 3 of last year's state championship game. Worland visits Buffalo on Friday. Elsewhere, Douglas and Cody each move up one spot to #3 and #4, because Star Valley took a tumble to #5 after 2 losses in Park County last week.

For 2A and 1A, these are the final rankings.

Wind River finishes the regular season where they have been for the past several weeks...the unanimous #1 ranked team in 2A. The west regional tournament will be a tough as one, because Wyoming Indian and Greybull (tied for #3) will both be there, as well as a number of other teams that were either once ranked, or close to being ranked. In the East, #2 Pine Bluffs and #5 Big Horn appear to be on a collision course in Cheyenne.

The final 1A rankings have 2-time defending champ Burlington at the #1 spot. Upton is not far behind at #2, and have a win vs. Huskies, but that was 2 months ago, and a lot has changed since then. The Bobcats will have to deal with #3 Kaycee at the regional tournament first though, and the Buckaroos have learned how to deal with their northeast rivals. #4 Encampment and #5 St. Stephens will try to keep Burlington busy at the West Regional tournament this weekend.
