Sheridan Wrestler Keegan Rager Looks to Make the Next Big Step
Sheridan junior Keegan Rager has been solid in wrestling for the last 2 seasons and is ranked 2nd in 4A at 165 pounds by WyoWrestling this season. He won all 6 of his matches at the Kelly Walsh Duals in Casper last weekend a pair of pins and technical fall.
Rager has been so close to a 4A State Championship, but he's run into some elite competition along the way. In 2024, he finished 2nd at 150 pounds with a hard-fought loss to Liam Fox of Cheyenne East in the title bout 5-3. Fox, by the way, is going for his 4th State Title this season. Rager was 25-12 last season and has displayed a huge up-side.
As a freshman back in 2023, he took 2nd at 132 pounds at the 4A State Tournament, losing 7-3 in the title match to Broc Fletcher of Rock Springs who ended up winning 4 State Championships in his career. Rager completed his freshman year of wrestling at 27-8.
He is a solid athlete and played the outside linebacker spot for the 4A State Champion Sheridan football team in 2024. Rager led the squad in tackles with 83, 43 of them solo with a fumble recovery and an interception. Rager was named All-Conference for his efforts.
We caught up with him in Casper over the weekend about his season to date and the improvements to make in order to reach the top of the podium in 2025.
