The Wyoming Indian girls basketball team finally got to play a game after covid restrictions prevented them from even practicing until a couple of weeks ago. Once the restrictions were lifted, it was time to get into basketball shape and that doesn't arrive in a matter of two weeks. That being said, the Chiefs do have some returning talent from last year's 2A state championship team and they'll need every available body.

Wyoming Indian did get off to a good start with a 61-43 win over Wind River on Thursday night in Pavillion. Sandi Friday led the way for the Chiefs with 22 and Chanute Redman chipped in 14. Wind River hung in there for the first half but the Chiefs were too much in the 2nd half. The Cougars were led in scoring by Hadlee Becker with 16 with  Alison Tidzump adding 9 points.

With the pandemic, nothing is a sure thing so it was great to see both teams playing, especially Wyoming Indian who endured a long delay. We have some of the highlights from that game on Thursday night. Enjoy!
