Casper-Natrona was in a prime position to win their first team title in 4A since 1984 but they still needed a late surge to keep up with Sheridan. Kaeden Wilcox was part of that surge for the Mustangs as he posted a pin over Cael Porter of Thunder Basin in the 152-pound championship match. A year ago, Wilcox took 2nd place at 145 so he made the next logical step forward. Those pin points were huge as NC won that coveted state crown. Wilcox was 31-2 on the year and Porter ended the season at 29-9. Sheridan took 3rd place thanks to Terran Grooms who beat Gio Lucchi of Kelly Walsh 5-3. Grooms ended up 20-8 on the year as a freshman and Lucchi concluded the year at 19-10, as a sophomore. The 5th place finisher was Mason Yenney of Rock Springs who beat Cael Pugh of Cheyenne East by a fall.

In 3A, Star Valley kept cruising along as Brave grappler Haze Child defeated Seth Horton of Powell 7-0. Horton was a reigning state champion in 3A at 152 and Child placed 3rd a year ago at 138. Child posted three pins in the state tournament so he was impressive. The 3rd place guy at 152 in 3A was Green River's Zach Weipert who bested Brady Deming of Cody by a fall. Weipert was 22-14 this season while Deming was 20-17. Josh Smith of Rawlins took 5th as he beat Dylan Campbell of Cody 10-0.

In 2A, by this point in the championship round, Thermopolis was on fire. The Bobcats earned their 2nd state title thanks to sophomore Roedy Farrell who pinned Wyatt Trembly of Dubois in the first period. Farrell won 25 matches this season and lost 4 so he has huge potential. Trembly has potential too and he was 32-2 as a freshman. Hed posted 3 pins in the tourney. Duke Gibble of Shoshoni finished the season at 35-7 thanks to a win over Braxton Smith of Big Piney, Smith's record this year was 22-9. The 5th place finisher at 152 was Ammon Halls of Cokevile who posted a 4-3 win over Aden  Nicholson of Lovell.

We have some video of those state championship matches at 152. Enjoy!
