The 2022 Wyoming Indoor Track State Championships are Friday and Saturday at the Campbell County Recreation Center Fieldhouse in Gillette.

28 teams are competing at this year’s state championships. The top eight in each event will receive medals. The top four boys’ teams and top four girls’ teams will receive trophies.

Two state records were set at last year’s championships. Those came in the girls’ pole vault and boys’ 800-meters.

Participating Teams = Big Horn, Buffalo Burns/Pine Bluffs, Campbell County, Cheyenne Central, Cheyenne East, Cheyenne South, Cody, Douglas, Evanston, Glenrock, Green River, Kelly Walsh, Laramie, Lovell, Mountain View, Natrona County, Pinedale, Rawlins, Riverton, Rock Springs, Sheridan, Star Valley, Thunder Basin, Tongue River, Torrington, Western Heritage Lutheran Academy, Worland.

Defending Girls Champion = Campbell County (looking to repeat & win the 8th title in school history)

Defending Boys Champion = Sheridan (three-time defending champs are seeking the 5th title in school history)

Girls Returning Individual Event Champions = Taliah Morris, Cheyenne East – 55-meters; Sydney Morrell, Cheyenne Central – 800 & 1600 meters; Jordan Stoddard, Torrington – High Jump; Nyomi Moore, Campbell County – Long Jump.

Boys Returning Individual Event Champions = Carter McComb, Sheridan – 200 meters; Kyland Fuller, Torrington – 800 meters; John Rose, Laramie – High Jump; Ryan Karajanis, Sheridan – Pole Vault; Payton Vernon, Evanston – Shot Put.

Friday, March 4:

Schedule:

Field Events start at 11:30 a.m. (and go in this order) = Girls long jump, Boys triple jump, Boys pole vault, Girls high jump, Girls and Boys Shot Put qualifying.

Track Events start at 11:30 a.m. = Sprint Medley Relay; Track Events start at noon (and go in this order) = 3200-meter finals, 400-meter finals, 55-meter hurdle prelims, 55-meter dash prelims, 4x800 meter relay finals, 200-meter prelims.

Saturday, March 5:

Schedule:

Field Events start at 9 a.m. (and go in this order) = Boys long jump, Girls Triple jump, Boys high jump, Girls pole vault, Boys and Girls Shot Put finals.

Track Events start at 9:30 a.m. (and go in this order) = 4x200 meter relay finals, 800-meter finals, 55-meter hurdle finals, 55-meter dash finals, 200-meter finals, 1600-meter finals, 4x400 meter relay finals.

The 2022 Wyoming High School Outdoor Track and Field season will begin with its first practice on Monday, March 7. The first competition day is on Thursday, March 17.
