Big Piney has its sights set on a long playoff run in 1A 9-man football season and returns a pair of all-state players from 2022.

Rueben Stoutenberg and Karsyn Gurr give the Punchers some big-time stability which certainly will help down the road. Big Piney defeated their Sublette County rival Pinedale last week 34-2 in a scrimmage in Big Piney. The varsity played for three quarters, while the JV scrimmaged for the final quarter.

The Punchers opened the scoring on a 25-yard run for a score from Stoutenberg and received a 60-yard interception return for a touchdown from Caden Clifford so Big Piney led 12-0.

Stoutenberg had a 4 run for a touchdown in the 2nd quarter and a 6-yard scamper to the end zone to increase the advantage. Pinedale's lone score came on a safety in the 2nd quarter with Big Piney adding a TD from Champ Snively in quarter #3.

Big Piney will host Lusk this week and Pinedale will try and break a 23-game losing streak when they travel to Rawlins.
