Volleyball/Basketball/Track/Soccer Conference Realignment

Recently the WHSAA Board of Directors, finalized the conference alignment for the next reclassification cycle, to begin in August of 2011. See related articles for football. Scroll down for changes related to 3A soccer.

With South coming into 4A, and Star Valley dropping down to 3A, this will put the Casper schools back together in the west conference. South will be in the east.

In 3A, Star Valley returns, and Thermopolis will downgrade to 2A. With SV in the west, Worland will shift to the east, except in soccer, where Lander will do so (Scroll down 2 paragraphs).

In 2A, Thermopolis is back, and Lingle-Ft. Laramie will downgrade to 1A. The Bobcats will be placed in the northwest division, meaning Shoshoni will shift to the southwest division. This also means that Saratoga will shift to the southeast division, to replace Lingle-Ft. Laramie.

In 1A, Lingle-Ft. Laramie will join, and will be placed in the southeast division. Midwest will shift to the northeast division. The northeast will have 6 teams, while the southeast, northwest and southwest will have 5 teams each.

As for 3A soccer, South moves up to 4A, and Star Valley will drop down to 3A. Lander will shift from the southwest quadrant to the southeast quadrant. This will start in spring of 2012.

In the 2011 soccer season (not part of the new reclass cycle), 3A Soccer will split into 4 quadrants, of 3 teams each. The first place team in each quadrant, will automatically qualify for states, while all the 2nd and 3rd place teams gather in Riverton/Lander, for a state qualifying play-in game. For the 2011 spring season, Buffalo, Douglas and Newcastle make-up the northeast. Rawlins, South and Torrington make-up the southeast. Lander, Jackson and Pinedale make-up the southwest. Cody, Powell, Worland make-up the northwest.
