The last basketball rankings of the 2023-24 season were released on Wednesday with the final WyoPreps Coaches and Media Basketball Polls. There were no changes in the 3A and 4A girls’ or boys’ rankings. The Douglas girls and boys, Cheyenne East girls, and Cheyenne Central boys will enter the postseason as the favorites in the big school divisions.

For the second straight year, and fourth time in the last five seasons, Douglas went wire-to-wire as the top-ranked 3A girls’ basketball team. The Bearcats were a unanimous choice for No. 1 with all 20 first-place votes. Buffalo kept the No. 2 spot all season, as well. Pinedale was third, followed by Mountain View and Powell.

In 4A girls, Cheyenne East finished the year at the top. The Thunderbirds held onto the No. 1 position for all but one poll, the preseason rankings. Cheyenne East got 16 of the 23 first-place votes. The other seven went to Cody. The defending champion Fillies spent the year right behind the T-Birds. Campbell County checked in at No. 3. Sheridan and Cheyenne Central rounded out the top five.

Cheyenne Central got all but three first-place votes in the final 4A boys’ poll of the year. The Indians garnered 18 of the 21 ballots for the top position. Laramie got two first-place votes, and Cheyenne East received one. The Plainsmen and Thunderbird remained in second and third, respectively. Sheridan kept the No. 4 ranking.
